2026年9月5日,第十二届国际气溶胶大会(IAC2026)在西安圆满闭幕。
On September 5, 2026, the 12th International Aerosol Conference (IAC2026) successfully concluded in Xi’an, China.
大会于8月30日至9月5日举行,来自全球近千名专家学者、青年科研人员齐聚西安,围绕气溶胶形成与演化、气溶胶与气候变化、空气质量与人体健康、先进观测与仪器技术、人工智能与大气模拟、气溶胶纳米技术及污染控制等议题展开交流,集中展示国际气溶胶科学与技术的最新研究进展。
国际气溶胶大会(International Aerosol Conference,IAC)由国际气溶胶研究会(International Aerosol Research Assembly,IARA)主办,首届大会于1984年在美国明尼阿波利斯举行,是气溶胶领域具有广泛国际影响力的学术会议。
本届大会以“同呼吸,共命运”(Breathe the Same Air, Share a Common Fate)为主题,由国际气溶胶研究会和中国颗粒学会共同主办,中国科学院地球环境研究所、中国科学院大气物理研究所和西安交通大学等单位共同承办。大会设置会前培训、开幕式、大会报告、专题分会、墙报交流、学术期刊活动、国际奖项颁发和闭幕式等环节,共设58个专题分会。
Held from August 30 to September 5, the conference brought together nearly 1,000 experts, scholars, and young researchers from around the world. Under the theme “Breathe the Same Air, Share a Common Fate,” participants engaged in in-depth discussions on a wide range of topics, including aerosol formation and evolution, aerosols and climate change, air quality and human health, advanced observation and instrumentation technologies, artificial intelligence and atmospheric modeling, aerosol nanotechnology, and pollution control. The conference provided a comprehensive showcase of the latest advances in international aerosol science and technology.
The International Aerosol Conference (IAC) is organized by the International Aerosol Research Assembly (IARA). The first IAC was held in Minneapolis, USA, in 1984 and has since become a major international academic conference with broad influence in the field of aerosol science.
IAC2026 was jointly organized by the International Aerosol Research Assembly (IARA) and the Chinese Society of Particuology (CSP), and was co-hosted by the Institute of Earth Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xi’an Jiaotong University, and other institutions. The conference featured training courses, an opening ceremony, plenary talks, technical sessions, poster presentations, academic journal activities, international award ceremonies, and a closing ceremony, with a total of 58 technical sessions.

大会开幕式由大会主席、中国科学院大气物理研究所曹军骥研究员主持,希腊雅典国家天文台Nikolaos Mihalopoulos教授发表开幕致辞。
大会邀请James Hansen (Columbia University, USA)、David Y. H. Pui (University of Minnesota, USA)、朱彤(Peking University, China)、Pratim Biswas(Vanderbilt University, USA)、John Watson (Desert Research Institute, USA)、Roy Harrison (University of Birmingham, UK)、Tuukka Petäjä(University of Helsinki, Finland)、Lidia Morawska(Queensland University of Technology, Australia)和张强(Tsinghua University, China)等9位国际著名专家作大会报告。
报告内容覆盖气溶胶微观形成机制、颗粒物测量与控制、空气质量、人体健康、气候变化及相关治理策略,展现了气溶胶科学从基础理论研究到技术应用的发展脉络,也反映出该领域与全球气候、环境质量和公众健康之间日益紧密的联系。
The opening ceremony was chaired by Prof. Junji Cao, Conference Chair and Professor at the Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Prof. Nikolaos Mihalopoulos of the National Observatory of Athens, Greece, delivered the opening remarks.
The conference featured plenary talks by nine internationally renowned experts, including James Hansen (Columbia University, USA), David Y. H. Pui (University of Minnesota, USA), Tong Zhu (Peking University, China), Pratim Biswas (Vanderbilt University, USA), John Watson (Desert Research Institute, USA), Roy Harrison (University of Birmingham, UK), Tuukka Petäjä (University of Helsinki, Finland), Lidia Morawska (Queensland University of Technology, Australia), and Qiang Zhang (Tsinghua University, China).
The plenary presentations covered a broad spectrum of topics, including the fundamental mechanisms of aerosol formation, particulate matter measurement and control, air quality, human health, climate change, and related mitigation and governance strategies. Together, the presentations highlighted the development of aerosol science from fundamental research to technological applications, while underscoring the increasingly close connections between aerosol science, global climate, environmental quality, and public health.

专题分会设置主旨报告、邀请报告、口头报告、快闪报告和墙报交流等形式。与会代表围绕高分辨率观测、多尺度模拟、单颗粒分析、人工智能辅助研究以及基础机制与应用场景的结合等方向,交流最新成果并讨论未来研究重点。
The technical sessions featured keynote presentations, invited talks, oral presentations, short oral presentations, and poster presentations. Participants shared their latest research findings and discussed future priorities in areas such as high-resolution observations, multiscale modeling, single-particle analysis, AI-assisted research, and the integration of fundamental mechanisms with practical applications.

大会同期举办了会前培训、专题研讨会、和学术期刊专题活动,吸引十余家学术期刊参与。会议期间还召开了IARA执委会会议,中国科学院大气物理研究所曹军骥研究员当选新一届IARA主席。
The conference also featured training courses, thematic workshops, and special activities organized by academic journals, attracting participation from more than ten scholarly journals. During the conference, the IARA Executive Committee Meeting was also held, at which Prof. Junji Cao of the Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, was elected as the new President of IARA.

The 2026 World Young Aerosol Scientist Award (WYASA Award) was presented to Jing Wei (Peking University, China), Rong Wang (Fudan University, China), and Yang Wang (University of Miami, USA).
In addition, Ling Jin (The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, China), Qirui Zhong (Peking University, China), and Fangxia Shen (Beihang University, China) received nomination awards.

IAC2026通过大会报告、专题研讨、墙报交流、期刊活动,集中呈现了气溶胶科学与技术的发展现状。会议促进了不同国家、研究方向和职业阶段科研人员之间的交流,也为观测、实验与模型的结合,以及人工智能等新技术在气溶胶研究中的应用提供了新的合作机会。
面对空气污染、气候变化和健康风险等共同挑战,气溶胶研究需要进一步加强基础机制、观测技术、模型模拟和治理实践之间的联系,并通过持续的国际合作提高研究成果的科学价值和实际影响。
第十三届国际气溶胶大会(The 13th International Aerosol Conference,IAC2030)将于2030年在墨西哥城举行。期待全球气溶胶科学界再次相聚。
Through plenary talks, technical sessions, thematic discussions, poster presentations, and academic journal activities, IAC2026 provided a comprehensive overview of current developments in aerosol science and technology.
The conference promoted communication and collaboration among researchers from different countries, research fields, and career stages. It also created new opportunities for collaboration in integrating observations, experiments, and modeling, as well as in applying emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence to aerosol research.
Faced with shared global challenges including air pollution, climate change, and health risks, aerosol research requires closer integration among fundamental mechanisms, observation technologies, model simulations, and pollution-control practices. Continued international collaboration will be essential to further enhance both the scientific value and practical impact of research in the field.
The 13th International Aerosol Conference (IAC2030) will be held in Mexico City, Mexico, in 2030. The global aerosol science community looks forward to coming together again.
